Horningsea, Cams, UK - emigrants?

My wife's BENDALL ancestors came from Horningsea, and the line can be traced back nearly 400 years (anyone interested, please contact me). But we have a Henry BENDALL born c 1849 who married an Eliza NOTTAGE about 1870 - but then both of them disappear without trace. They are not anywhere at all in the 1881 UK Census. As it seems unlikely that both could have died so young, we are wondering if they emigrated somewhere. Does anyone outside the UK have any BENDALL ancestors from Horningsea (a village just outside Cambridge)?
