Heather, I've seen situations where people tried to insert a family line which stops in one century into a family tree that goes back further, just because they are more motivated to get back further in time or attach themselves to an older or more well-known family tree. And, believe me, the Welsh family has been aware of the Prestwood line for some time now.
Several years ago, I received a letter from a lady who had made the most unbelievable mess of the family line by trying to attach it to any and all other Benbow lines. She had a woman married to a nephew who was born after she married, and with a marriage that occurred after her husband died, not naming her in his will -- probably meaning she was dead by then. The list of mistakes was rather long.It took me two weeks and seven pages to go over the problems in her work, issue by issue, and put together copies of documentation to send her to address the problems.Worse, she had written in her cover letter that she had sent her work to the Society of Genealogists in London, since she was so proud of her work.:P
