Hi Katherine,
Thanks for the response.I agree the connection of Prestwood to either Mary Brunt Beaversley/John Benbow or Anne Brunt/Thomas Benbow is very tenuous. All I have at the moment are some gedcoms which as you say are a secondary source and could be someone's wishful speculation.
The thing that makes me give it a bit of consideration is that they don't seem to link Prestwood to any of the established gedcoms (Prestwood's Descendants) which are very well documented/researched, so it isn't someone who is trying to link Prestwood's line per se, he is just listed as a child on the gedcoms when I do a searh for him in Wales. Both of them list his death in Thornbury with the accepted year, but do not list a spouse or children, etc.It is also interesting as they have the 1644 birth date but one lists the birth as being in England and one in Wales. There are other discrepancies in the two gedcoms as well, mostly regarding the maternal lines.
The name Prestwood is very funny though, it seems out of place with the other children's names in both gedcoms (Edward, Anne, Charles, Richard, etc.) and I know there is a large Prestwood surname family in an adjoining county and have read the speculation on the internet that there was a Prestwood - Benbow marriage.
The reason I posted my speculation is that I was hoping someone would be able to tell me that they had a primary source for one of the Brunt/Benbow couples and could verify a Prestwood in that line.
Thanks very much for your input, it is much appreciated.:)
