I'm sorry, I keep getting scraps of information from here and there. This information was found by my great-aunt from an email my grandmother sent her in 2001.
My great-grandmother, Clara Ruby Benbow (she went by Ruby) was supposedly born in Summerton, SC on 08-04-1898. From Summerton the family moved to Millidgeville, GA. When Ruby's older sister, Beatrice, was killed (I don't know how she was killed) they moved back to Sumter, SC. Ruby's father, Harold Lawrence Benbow, opened an office on Main St lending money. Ruby's mother was Daisy Camilla Brunson whose father was a doctor.
Ruby married William Elias King on 01-21-1920 in Florence, SC. They ended up living in Wilmington, NC.
If anyone has any information on this branch of the Benbow family, please let me know.
