The Charles Benbow House was donated to Oak Ridge Military Institute, whose superintendent decided to ignore the original purpose of the gift, and sold the house to a family whose work on the house was not within the restrictions of historic landmarks. I am in touch with the descendants of this family branch. In fact, Charles Benbow was my husband's ancestor.
