I am trying to locate information on Richard Benbow, born in England (not sure where) abt. early 1830's. He was married to a woman named Catherine or Caroline (so far I've seen her listed both ways). They apparently arrived in US abt. 1862. They had 5 children:
George (my ggrandfather), born 1861, England
Thomas, born 1863
Albert, born 1862
Charles, born 1867, New York
Mary A. born 1865 or 1866
I found Catherine and her children living in Camden, NJ. in 1887 Directory but she was listed as the widow of Richard. Not sure where Richard died, I can't find any information on him. She kept 2 of the children with her and the other 3 children were put in the home for friendless children in Camden, NJ.
I would like to hear from anyone who may be connected to these benbows. I believe that Charles moved to California and that is where he died. All of the other children, I think, remained in New Jersey or Pa.
