I have found some additional info. My father, Ricardo Benavides Canales had an illegitimate step-brother - Raul Benavides (nicknamed "El Rinche"), whose mother's name was Maria. My paternal grandfather, Ricardo Benavides Lopez, had several siblings - Lorenza (married Anastacio Garcia), Maria Del Refugio ("cuquita"), and Jose Maria, who lived in the area near present-day Lopeno, Tx, in a place known back then as San Pedro de Roma, according to my father.
My paternal grandfather's parents were: Cecilio Benavides and Urbana Lopez, both from Guerrero, Tamaulipas. My paternal grandmother, Fidela Canales Perez, whose parents were Juan Canales and Manuela Perez, had several siblings: Servando, Rafael, Angela, Dolores, and Juana. Juana Canales de Garcia lived for many years and raised her family in Cotulla, TX. Some of her children were: Ernestina, Armando, Ofelia (Laredo, TX), "Nayo".

If anybody knows any additional details, you can e-mail me directly to: JRBENAVIDES2001@Yahoo.com
