Hi Kerry, thanks for posting the link to the background to the Bennalick name. Certainly this surname was a strong pointer that my HAYNE family would eventually be found to be Cornish. I was able to trace back as far as the early 1500s and joined up with a keen group of researchers of Hayne of Tintagel and neighbouring Davidstow. The Benallack connection I believe is circumstantial. Upon arrival in New South Wales, one of my ggg aunts Betsey (Elizabeth) A Hayne married John Frances Benallack in 1858 in Victoria, Australia, at the height of the gold rush. They raised a lot of children at Fryers Creek and Colac. I guess that Betsey's brother Edwin, my gg grandfather, admired Benallack his brother-in-law. Perhaps he made him a godfather to one of his children, leading to my ggrandfather being christened Frank Benallick HAYNES. There is no other occurrence of the surname Benallack in our family tree back to the 1500s. Claire
