Belvin Family. beginning

There is strong reason to believe that the Belvin family might have "originally" come from France, or possibly through Scotland from France.I have been researching this family for about 25 years and have come in contact with some very distant cousins and these are the various stories.1.A distant cousin in my line of Belvins found in some notes handed down in the family that her gggrandmother was reported to have said that her father came from "Paris France".We know that cannot possibly be true, but there might be a clue in her words.2.Another Belvin researcher told me that her side of the Belvin family was said to have come over in a ship from Scotland and the Belvin ancestor met a French woman on the ship and married her.3. I happened to find a sentence in a book about the early settlers of VA, which mentioned a woman who "married a Dr. Belvin from France". Perhaps they were Huegonots, I don't know.Do you have any ideas on the subject?
My line of the family probably went to VA when they came from Europe, then later migrated to NC. The line branched out from there, our line went to SC then Alabama to TX.Another line went to TN to IL then ended up in the same town in TX!
