Looking for information on JOHN BROWDER BELTON, son of EWELL and MARY SIMMONS BELTON.
B:19 Jul. 1828 in Stokes Co.,NC. Married: LUCINDA NICHOLS, and then SARAH ELIZABETH DEATHERAGE, dau of PHILIP and MARTHA ANN FORKNER DEATHERAGE. They had (6) children: (1)ROBERT LEO, B: 15 Sept. 1867, in Mt.Airy,
NC. mar: OCTAVIA VICTORIA DUNCAN.(2)ELIZA CATHERINE B: 8 Aug. 1864, mar: CHARLES SOLOMON GATES.(3)PHILIP EWELL, B: 6 Apr., 1866,Mt.Airy,NC. Marr: FRANCIS R.GATES and ANNIE BOWMAN. (4)MARY ETTA, B:13 Dec.,1874 Marr: PERCIE LEE BOWMAN.(5)JOHN E.MOURNING "EMMA", B: 6 Nov. 1879, Marr: LUTHUR COLLINS.
Family oral history has JOHN fighting for the north in the civil war and having been to
Oregon during that time. In the 1880 census he states he was married twice. but I can not
find any record of LUCINDA NICHOLS death record in NC. or VA. Would like any help that could be given.
