I am hoping that someone on this forum will be able to inform me of family links that may explain the middle name of my GG grandfather, James Belton Loveless. He was born in Anderson Co., SC in 1834 and died in Jackson Co. AL in 1900. He is the son of Seaborn Loveless (b. KY? abt 1807-d. SC abt 1841) and Nancy Hail (b. SC abt 1810 - d. AL (?) after 1870). There is a possibility that his middle name may honor the maiden name of his maternal grandmother. That speculation is based upon (1) geography and (2) family naming patterns. Does anyone know of links between members of the BELTON and HAIL/HALE families in South Carolina about 1770-1790? It is also possible (but I think less probable) that his middle name recalls his father's mother, in which case I would like to know of any affiliations between members of the BELTON and LOVELESS/LOVELACE families in the same period. Since Seaborn did not move to SC until adulthood, such a link would probably have occurred in KY or VA, possibly in MD.
