Hi David.I am a cousin of Dick's and have additional info. concerning his life in the U. S. Navy.He had served as a pilot in the Air Force during World War II and later as a Navy pilot, flew 225 combat missions in Korea and Vietnam.He had been awarded the Silver Star, the Distinguished Flying Cross, twelve Air Medals, the Purple Heart, and campaign ribbons for participation in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam conflict.In addition he held the Vietnamese Navy Distinguished Service Order. He and Norma Tuffer were divorced in 1970.
Dick did pass away in the Veterans' Administration Hospital in North Hamptom, Mass. in 1981.He had no children, but did leave a sister, two brothers and a foster brother. This year one of his other brothers has passed away.
