Hi, looking for anyone with information on the line of Allen Bellew, a signator to the 1787 State of Franklin petition to make today's east TN into the 14th State ... named after Benjamin Franklin. My Jacob Smelser is also a signator to the Petition and we find evidence of Smelser "association" with Bellew and Bilyeu in TN, MO and OR ... and possibly in Maryland as well if this Bellew line is part of the Maryland of Bellew ... maybe Jesse Bellew's line? I currently do not find any marriages of Bellew / Smelser or Bilyeu / Smelser but I do find links between Bellew/Bilyeu and the Teeple and Coyle families that do have direct links to Smelser. So .... I think there are important clues to family movements here that I would like to pursue. And, as always ... glad to share what I have as well.
