Hi,

I am descended from the Higgins family of Hillhouse, Moylough, County Galway. My grandparents emigrated to NYC aroud 1900 and my father was born there on Feb 7 1912.
Just recently, I searched the Griffiths Valuation Records 1847-64 and found properties in Moylough, rented from a Sir Christopher Bellew TO MARTIN HIGGINS AND JOHN HIGGINS.
I thik that the Bellew family were quite important- almost like royalty- and I have seen a book (possibly in the Galway County Library)about this family in the 18-19th century. The library book list is accessible on-line.

William
