1. Your line of Bellew:Jesse Bellew is in the HISTORY OF LACLEDE CO, MO.....well part of it.
2. Somewhere on the one of the web sites is the ancestry of Jesse Bellew back to France. The family came to Maryland, then obtained land bounty for military service and settled in North Carolina. There is a HUGH Bellew cemetery. Jesse Bellew was born circa 1774.
3. Jesse Bellew married two times: both were cherokee. Charity was full blood, and Nancy was 1/2. Jessee removed to Tennessee, and then joined a wagon train for what is now Missouri to work for the Col Daniel Boone Indian leases about 1818. These Indian leases were in dispute lands (treaty was signed in 1808 and the Indians went to court to overturn it and it remained in dispute until 1828 when the Missouri Indian wars ended). In 1828 Jesse and family left for Texas, but returned within a year back to the LOWER NIANGUA RIVER BASIN (area he lived in is now in Laclede Co, Mo). Some of his children remained in Missouri, and many remained in Texas. Jesse's first wife Charity died in Pulaski Co Mo (now Laclede Co, Mo). Jesse remarried to Nancy Montgomery her cousin and 1/2 cherokee also. Jesse died circa 1833 in Pulaski Co, Mo (now Laclede Co, Mo). His second wife Nancy Montgomery Bellew (born 1882) died in Pulaski Co, Mo (also Laclede now)long after he died.
