Sally
Thanks once again for your reply.
The name is eye-tham-ee. Have not learned
where it came from. All I have been able to
learn is that the Bellews had Cherokee Indian
Blood quite a lot to be frank. I was told that Elizabeth Bellew was full blooded. So
its possible that Ithama used her Indian
Name. My grandfather who was Ithama and
Robert Pitmans grandson, said he had more
Indian Blood in him than other. This is just
info that has been handed down through the
Generations. So how much truth there is to
it is any ones guess.
One other bit of info that you might be in-
terested in. I was told by family memebers
That John Joshua Pitman was riding his horse
in the Glassy Mountain area and came upon a
young indian girl fishing. He married her
she was only ten year old and had her first
child at twelve. All dates I have collected
verify this to be true. This girl was
Elizabeth Bellew.
My unusual E-mail address
The L is the first letter in my last name
which is Linder. I raise Exotic birds.
Looking foward to any info that you come up
with Millie
