By any chance, would your Gabriel Belleau descendancy include one Jean-Evangeliste Belleau, b. 1831, Montreal? Jean-Evangeliste immigrated to the US in 1840 (most likely with parents--names presently unknown) via Clinton Co., NY. Sometime after coming to the US, Jean-Evangeliste "Americanized" his name by changing it to John Finewater. He later changed it back to its original version. In the early 1850s, Jean-Evan. married Marie-Emmerance Arpin (aka Maria Harper--anglicized version). Marie-Em. was the daughter of Charles Poitvin-Arpin and Therese Plouffe. Together, Jean and Em are believed to have 15 children. Included among them were Joseph, Marie-Emerance, Adeline/Addie, Elize Josephine, Jean/John, Eusebe/Zeb, Willie, Frank, Charles, Cara/Carrie, Alfred and Narcisse/Nelson/Nels. This family later migrated westward, settling in Kankakee Co., IL. Ring any bells? Notify Administrator about this message?
