Nathaniel Bell (Jr.), born 1761 (some accounts say 1757) to Nathaniel Bell and Hannah (Clark?) in Berkely County, VA near Mill Creek, migrated with his father and family through Green County and Washington County, PA. Nathaniel Jr served in the Washington County Militia during the Revolutionary War, though an 1843 pension claim was rejected, due to lack of service a continuous 6 months in an embodied military organization. Nathaniel Jr is brother to Benjamin Bell, m. Elizabeth Enoch. Nathaniel Jr married Mary Timmons and had, maybe 10 or more children, including Polly Bell and James Bell. Sometime after 1800, the family moved to Butler County, OH. There Nathaniel was a farmer and local tax assessor and collector. In December, 1820, his son James married (Sarah) Elizabeth Rose (or Ross), according to the marriage records of Preble County, OH, neighboring Butler County. They inturn had at least 2 children of which I know. The eldest, William, was born in Ohio, presumably Preble or Butler County, in 1821. That same year Nathaniel entered land in Johnson County, IN, and the much of the family followed on later to join. In July 1827, James and Elizabeth had a son, James Jr. In 1831, Elizabeth died in Johnson County, and it is unclear whether James Sr remarried in Johnson County or not. In any case, by 1843, James Sr and William went to Cass County, IN, to enter into newly opened lands in the former Miami Indian reservation. Son James Jr stayed behind with his grandfather, Nathaniel, but later joined his father in Cass County. Nathaniel passed away in 1845, and Mary joined him in 1847. James Sr, according to Daisy Bell Alspach's DAR application, died in 1860. I can't find where, or any details. William, in Jackson Township, secured land of his own and began to raise a family. He married Youtha McMillan of North or South Carolina in or about the 1845 time fram, and they eventually raised 10 boys. The eldest, John C. Bell, born in 1847, more or less ran off to the Army in 1865 near the end of the Civil War. He, unfortunately, died of disease while serving with the 151st Indiana Infantry near Nashville, TN, just shy of his 18th birthday. The children of William and Youtha (or Utha or Eutha) Bell were: George Milton Bell 1856 -1939 Ransom Bell 1866-1963 Allison (Alson) Bell 1869-mid 1950's, died in Miami County, IN. This is a hard one because he was known as Allison to my Uncle, but his real name may have been different. It seems that in the late 1800's, several of these guys used nicknames. For example, one of the brothers was referred to in the Galveston Leader newspaper coovering the family reunion W. Azhe Bell. Was this William A? Daniel W. Bell 1853 - unk Alfred M. Bell 1859 - unk John C. Bell 1847 -1865 Civil War Service Richard D. Bell 1849 - unk William A. Bell 1851 - unk Azel Bell another son. George Milton Bell married Mary Ellen Shirley, daughter of Andrew Jackson Shirley, and had one son, Everett Bell, born in Cass County, IN in 1882, died Cass County 1924. Everett married Gertrude Leona Stafford about 26 Feb 1902. Children were: Mary E. Bell 1902 - ? Josephine Delores Bell 1910 - ? George Henry Bell 1912- 1964 (d. California) Milton Andrew Bell 1914 -1983 (d. California) Ruby Marcella Bell 1815 - ? Robert Bell 1916 -1916 Betty Jane Bell 1918- ? Chester Bell 1921 -1923 Phyllis Jean Bell 1924-? Anyhow, George Milton Bell married Margaret Raske of Chicago, and one of their sons is my father. I seek any related Bell family information for Johnson County, Cass County, or Miami County, Indiana. I'd like to find some other descendants of William, George Milton, or Everett, looking to find any pictures of these patriarchs. Best Regards, Daniel Allen Bell
