I have just joined this forum and on reading your information it occurrs to me that your ancestor may have come from the Yorkshire Dales in England.

It may be just co incidence but many dales people left their homeland and moved to the Mississipi area and in fact there was a book written about them, have you read this book? The Dalesmen of the Mississipi River.
I have not found Henry in the book but he could easily have been one of these migrants merely referred to as Bells.

I have also researched the Bells of Fawdington Yorkshire and there is a few generations of Henry Bell there going back to the mid 1500's, this may be a good place for you to look if you have not already.
