In Reply to: William and Andrew Beall of N.C., GA, and AL by Virginia Tuttle of 15151

I am related to this family directly, Elijah Hamilton2 BELL is my
g.g.grandfather, Martha Eliza3 is my g. grandmother.

I do have some corrections and additions to add about my 'branch' of the
family tree. I have copied the section and my corrections and additions
appear below each section.

My mother, Betty Will BELL, was a Georgia Bell (from Spalding County GA),
but I am not sure if those Bells are related to these Mississippi Bells,
the Mississippi Bells are on my father's side.

-----

12. Martha Eliza3 Bell (Elijah Hamilton2, William1 Beall) was born 18 Mar
1853 in Campbell County, Ga., and died 28 May 1887 in Cobb County, Ga..
She married Harrison Kenlock Wiley Childress 12 Mar 1873 in Holly Springs,
Miss.. He was born 09 May 1840 in MS, and died 07 Feb 1907.

Notes for Martha Eliza Bell:

Family Bible listing death of Martha Eliza Bell Childress in 1887, on next
line shows death of Warren Childress July 30, 1887. It is possible this
was also a child of Eliza Bell Childress. She died at age 34 and may have
died from childbirth (birth of Warren).

Notes for Harrison Kenlock Wiley Childress:

-----
Should be :
Harrison Kendricks Wylie CHILDRESS
Son of Goen CHILDRESS (1798 SC-1870 MS) and Orpha BOX (1799 SC-1871 MS)
The family was Cherokee: they appear to have moved from Indian Territory
(TN) south to Chulahoma (MS) right around the time of the Trail of Tears
He was:
b. 9 May 1839 Chulahoma (Holly Springs) Marshall County MS
(Chulahoma is now extinct and known as Wyatte MS)

Military: 19th Mississippi Co. I to 1862; had his (left)
arm amputated after being wounded at Cold Harbor, VA June 27,1862.
-----

Family Bible shows name as Harrison but he went by the name Henry. 1880
Douglas County census lists Henry Childress. Marriage record shows
Harrison K.W. Childress. Eliza Bell may have died from childbirth.

-----
He is also on:
1860 Marshall County MS as "H.K.W." Tyro Township
1870 Marshall County MS Tyro Township
Hen CHILDRESS, 1880 Douglas, GA
-----

The family moved back to Georgia in late 1879 or early 1880. All children
shown born in Mississippi except Walter Hamilton Childress who was born in
1881 in Georgia.

Harrison(or Henry) had no children by the second wife.

-----
Second wife was Julia Gay, he was m. 17 FEB 1891, Fulton Co., GA (as "H. K. W.")

-----
Albert Wylie CHILDRESS
-----

Buddy married three times - Martha, Georgia and Irene (no surnames). He
was a Career Army man.

-----
I believe his son, my father, was called 'Buddy' or 'Bud' because he was a
'Jr.' and it was confusing to have two of the same name in the house.

A. W. CHILDRESS Sr. was career army, Capt. in the Cavalry I believe. Only
married twice, second wife was Martha Irene.
