Bill, Can you shed any light on the spouse/spouses of William Worth Belknap? Supposedly he married Carrie Tomlinson, according to a Tomlinson family researcher (no proof) and there is a source for this marriage: Book 4, "Marriage Records of Lee CO, IA" pg. 1, #9----Wm. W. BELKNAP m: Carita L. TOMLINSON Jan--/Jan 21, 1869--witness-none listed; married by Henry W. Lee, Bishop of Dio. I have no proof that Carita is the same person as my Carrie. However, a son of William's, Hugh Reid Belknap, was born in 1860 in Keokuk. Who was Hugh's mother? Then, LDS has the following birth: Alice BELKNAP Sex: F Event(s): Birth: Nov 1874 Washington, District Of Columbia, District Of Columbia Parents: Father: William Worth BELKNAP Mother: Amanda TOMLINSON. Alice married Jean Jacques Abram Van Kaathoven and both are buried in the Belknap plot in Arlington Nat'l Cemetery, as is Hugh. No mention is made of a burial there of a spouse of William. My Carrie did have a sister named Amanda, and some sources I have seen re William W. state that he married his sister in law after the death of his wife, and some also state that the s-i-l was a widow. LDS also has the following marriage: Amanda TOMLINSON Sex: F Event(s): Birth: 1842 Harrodsburg, Mercer, Kentucky Marriage(s): Spouse: John F. BOWER * Carrie, Amanda and all of their siblings were born in Harrodsburg. Regards, Jean
