I have very little information on the Reyes family. I do know that in addition to my direct line there was at least one other Reyes family in Belize City that was related to my grandmother. They must have been cousins to my grandmother. That particular family had come to Belize from Caye Caulker and they lived in a home that could be accessed only through an alley that led from Handyside Street.I can recall that there were at least two sons and two daughters.
With regard to my direct Reyes line, this is all that I have. My grandmother's maiden name was Angela REYES and she married Nasario CERVANTES PEREZ. Angela was the daughther and only child of Eustaquio REYES and Ernestina CANCINO PEREZ. I have not proof but I am guessing that Eustaquio was born about 1854 but I do not know where he was born. I suspect that it was someplace in Mexico, most probably in Yucatan. As far as I have been able to ascertain, Eustaquio had two brothers: Donaciano born about 1852 and Luciano born about 1856 and one sister, Cristina born about 1858.
I was told by an older cousin that Donaciano and Luciano were sailors and that they had fathered children by several women; but she could not provide any names of these women or their children.
I was told that Cristina REYES married a MUNOZ. I don't know his first name.

A REYES male married ??? and had five children: Irene, Maria Luisa, Beatrice, Inez, and Miguel. These five children were first cousins to my grandmother, Angela, therefore either Luciano or Donaciano was their father.(I suspect that it might have been Luciano.)
Irene, Beatrice and Inez did not marry nor have children.

Maria Luisa married Mercedes MUNOZ and they had two children: Sarah MUNOZ REYES and Cristina MUNOZ REYES.

Sarah MUNOZ REYES married Lucilo AYUSO and they had four children: Estelle, Oscar, Luke, and Sarah. (Estelle married
Orlando TORRES and Sarah married Teodocio STAINES.)

Cristina MUNOZ REYES married Policarpo (Polin) ESCALANTE and they had two daughters: Christine ESCALANTE (Sister of Mercy) and Teresa ESCALANTE.

Miguel REYES married Tomasa CARILLO and they had a daughter Olga REYES CARILLO.
That is all the info. that I have. I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide me with any additional information: names, places and/or years of birth or death, marriages, etcetera.
One of the reasons it has been so hard to get information is due to the fact that there were extra-marital affairs that led to children being born out of wedlock and this caused "shame" for the families and they were unwilling to even discuss these matters.

I hope to hear from you soon. Do you live in Belize? What are the names of your parents, first and last names.

Ralph
