I hope you're still about and interested in tracing the Courtois family...
Charles Antoine Courtois and Johanna Valide are very likely my great great great grandparents, by way of their daughter Constance. Family legend is that Constance was estranged from her parents, and may not be part of the Courtois oral history.
Constance was born in Belize (then British Honduras), and the entire family immigrated through New Orleans in Nov 1860 (I have an image of the ship's passenger list).
I have a pretty decent record of Constance and her descendants, and some barely documented information on Christina Courtois and the Slangerups/Carvilles.
I'd be delighted to compare notes, cuz.
