Sharon, There are different lines of the Jex family in Belize. (1)There were three brothers who emigrated to British Honduras, now known as Belize, from Field Dalling, Norfolk, England. They were William b.1816, John b.1817, and Daniel b.1821. My gr-gr grandfather was William Jex who married Ada Fowler. I have not been able to ascertain where Ada was born. I believe that William eventually emigrated/retired from British Honduras to New York to join his family and may have died in New York. His son, Willliam, Jr. had previously emigrated there some years before. Two of William, Sr.'s siblings, Josiah and Phoebe had emigrated to New York from England. Daniel returned from Br. Honduras to England and died in, Brighton. He had married a lady by the name of Brunette. Her surname is unknown to me. I think that Brunette may have been from New Orleans, Louisiana. John emigrated from Br. Honduras to Florida; he died in Jacksonville. He had married Caroline Elizabeth, surname unknown. I am curious as to where you got the information that the brothers were shipbuilders? This has piqued my interest. (2)The second Jex line came from Jamaica. I was told this by my father, who is now deceased. There was no connection between the two different lines. I know nothing about these families. I wish that I could have been of more help.
