Hello, David - I just found your message – hadn’t looked at the Belize Forum for awhile. Thanks so much for the information! Yes, that would be he – and the reason I couldn't find him in military records was that Norman was his second name, not his first. Aunty Wyn always said he got the M.C., which fits. How awful, to be killed a week before the Armistice!

It must have been an older Usher cousin who fell in love with the hussy, resulting in her staying with the Bennetts while he went back to Belize to complete the business that had brought him to England – no faxes or internet then! Absence didn't make her heart grow fonder; she cast her eyes on her middle aged host, resulting in domestic violence and a broken home; my grandmother moved out and divorced him in 1913.
