Mr. Gabourel; I have been investigating my Belizean lineage for about 1-1/2 years now, and remember seeing the name Gabourel. My great grandfather lived on Gabourel lane in Belize, according to his 1910 death certificate; your welcome to a copy of this, but I'm not sure that this is particularly informative. As I mentioned on the Genforum site, I also may have seen the name Gabourel in census data, but I'm not sure of his. However, you can review census data from 1816-1839 (some years missing) at any Family History Centre associated with the Church of the Latter Day Saints (the Mormons). I found this census data one of the most useful instruments in my search. I can give you something more concrete now. In the files regarding Slave Compensation payments that I received from an individual that I corresponded with over the internet, I see the name Gabourel occurs in a few compensation claims (William, Josuah, Anne). Given that this dates to 1834, it is probable that these names are recorded in the 1830's census data that I mentioned, and review of this census data may give further clues of other family members. Send me your e-mail address and I can forward these files to you. Are you just starting your search? I'm not an expert, but what information do you know at this time, and maybe we could think up the next appropriate step. Keep in touch, maybe we have a connection. Best Regards, Byron McDonald Aberdeen, Scotland bmcdonald@kmg.com
