looking for more information on my family. i am including what information my father gave me today:

Great Grandparents: Henry Carlton Burch, deceased farmer sharecropper, huxter, ice plant manager, produce and fish seller, veteran of WW-1, machine gunner, 29th Infantry Div., Fell under mustard gas attack by German Army in the Ardennes forest in France. Totally devoted to family. Lived through the great depression without any government assistance. Died in 1967 in Norfolk, Va.

Margaret Elizabeth Chappell Burch, wife of Henry Carlton Burch; housewife, mother, worked in the fields in N. Carolina. Had three sons; Joseph Henry, Elton Curtis, and James Lawrence. Loved her family and took great care of them under trying circum-

Clarence Roscoe Brooks, from Thomaston, Georgia, very big man in stature, hopped freights going from place to place during the great depression looking for work.

Annie Laurie Brooks; housewife and mother, had ? Children; Betty Jean and others.

Grandparents: Elton Curtis Burch; farmer, laborer, ice plant worker, logger, truck driver, taxi driver, veteran of WW-2, 104th Infantry Div., Germany, Holland, Belgium, part of liberation force liberating Dora Mittlebaum concentration camp in Germany near Aachen, suffered shell shock and never recovered from it. Family man, did the best he was able to provide for family during very hard financial circumstances. Died in 2001 (June 1st ) at 79 years of age.

Betty Jean Brooks Burch; married to Elton Curtis Burch. Mother and housewife. Had 5 children; Elton Curtis Burch Jr., John Carlton Burch, Margaret Elizabeth Burch, Esther Belinda Burch ( died 13 minutes after birth ), Unnamed son ( miscarriage ), Bonnie Bea Burch. Totally devoted to home and family and cherished her children. In Pop’s words, she was a “true” woman. Made things work under the most trying circumstances. Died May 24, 2000

Elton Curtis Burch Jr.; son of Elton C. and Betty Jean Burch, brother of John Carlton, Margaret Elizabeth, Esther Belinda, Un named, and Bonnie Bea Burch, born Jan. 18th, 1948; died Jan. 30th, 1998, Sheetmetal worker. Veteran of the Vietnam War, door gunner on helicopter, Lifetime asthma sufferer as was Henry Carlton. His unit was involved in an accidental “friendly fire” incident in the A Shau Valley causing tremendous mental anguish from which he never recovered. He was a devoted family man with two children.
