Looking for Charleroi Misson Families
Posted by: Janice Trumbell (ID *****1140) Date: April 01, 2009 at 13:07:39

I am looking for any Misson's still in Charleroi. My grandfather, Victor Joseph Misson born 1833 in Charleroi, studied art at the university there and became a devoted religious artist and interior decorator. He has art in many churches in Belgium, Europe, Brazil and Pennsylvania (US). He married Mary ? about 1867 or 1868 in Belgium. He and his family immigrated to the US about 1890 and he was in Brazil around World War I, then returned to the US. He died February 20, 1928 in Youngstown, Ohio and was buried in Butler, Butler Co., Pennsylvania. At the time of his death, his brother Dieu Done was 100+ years old and his sister Julian was 93. According to his death certificate, his parents were Phillip Misson and Theresa Everett(last name hard to read).

His daughter Helen/Eleanor b: 3/1867 in Belgium married Arthur Dumont who was b:7/1854 in Belgium.

Is there anyone related or researching these names? Would appreciate any help. Thanks.
