From http://search.labs.familysearch.org/recordsearch/, 1900 census: Portage Township South Bend, St Joseph, Indiana: Emil Storm, b. Jan 1867, married 6 years, b. Belgium, parents b. same, emigrated 1889, resident 11 years, naturalization status not given. Emilia, wife, b. Jun 1856, 43 years, married 6 years, 5 children, 5 living, b. Belgium, parents b. same, emigrated 1880. Mary, dau, b. Mar 1897, 3, b. Indiana step-children, listed as Venderrydiis: Chas, b. Aug 1881 Lena, b. Oct 1883 Edward, b. Jan 1886 Lizzie, b. Oct 1892. This sets fairly narrow limits of the events - she was probably either married to Mr Vande**** when she arrived into the US, or married him soon afterwards. He must have died around the time of Lizzie's birth or a little afterwards, and she remarried fairly quickly to Emil (unsurprising, with four children to look after). You should probably try local archives etc. to see if they can help you find the births of any of Emelia's children from her first marriage, giving hopefully a better spelling for the surname, a first name for her husband, and maybe her maiden name: http://www.sbags.org/archives.htm http://www.libraryforlife.org/localhistory/ http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~instjose/addresses.htm (I take it her death certificate has no information on her parents?) I think on Ancestry there is an indexed marriage for Emil Storm and Emolie Venderhyden in St. Joseph - may hold some good clues! The name Vanderheyden/Van Der Heyden/Van Der Hayden does seem to appear in the South Bend area. Notify Administrator about this message?
