- records are kept of bmds for British citizens overseas. The indexes are online at 1837online (pay site) or you can ask the GRO just to do a search for you.

There is very little for Belgium which is online - surname distribution sites such as http://www.familienaam.be/ show that there are still a very few Carritts in Belgium.

http://www.infobel.com/belgium/ - gives one address, for a T. Carritt, and one for a T. Carritt-Kurtzahn. Seeing as the name is rare in Belgium, it might be worth writing a letter.
