Sandy:
Yes. We have alot of information on the Witteborts you have mentioned. I am descended from Jean Baptiste Wittebort/Wittebord who was listed as T.B. Wittebort on his 1888 Naturalization card at Findlay, Hancock CO, Ohio.
Our four Wittebort brothers: Leopold, Floriemond, Jean B. and Emile came to US in SEP 1881
My grandmother Mrs. Lavonne R. Molle of Charleston, W VA researched and wrote a history of this line in the 1970'-1980's. Robert Wittebort of PA has also written a history of this line. Ghislaine Vanderick, Yves Orban and Matt Verona have helped us in our recent research.
We have an Arthur Wittebort b. JUL 1877 Belgium with wife Della b. FEB 1882 IN married for 1 year listed in the 1900 US Census at Hartford City, Blackford CO, IN 253/258. He was a glass flattener.I have to find out when he emmigrated to US. My grandmother has Arthur John Wittebort b. Jumet as son of Emile b. 1849 one of the four brothers. Arthur married Della Haning of Moscow, IN in 1899. They lived at Hartford City, IN and had son Clifford and daughter Marion Ann.
Do know that our Emile Wittebort born JUN 1849 Vieux-Genappe, Charleroi, Belgium married Zenaide Schmidt b. SEP 1850 Lodelinsart. They had a son Arthur born at Jumet 1879. The Schmidts were a big family of glassmakers.
Our Jean Baptiste Wittebort b. 1847 Vieux-Genappe also had a son Arthur Paul Wittebort born 1874 at Jumet, Belgium and died 1940 at Newago CO, MI. He was married to Josephine Veronet . No children. Have a photo of him and Josephine with Jean Baptiste Molle and Irma Wittebort when Irma & Jean got married. Irma and Arthur were siblings.
Am just now entering the data and source notes to Family Tree Maker Ver. 10 for this line.
Yves says that Wittebord is not a Walloon name. He thinks it is Flemish and that the family may have come from the Brussells area.
I hope that this helps. Our home page has a short history of both the Molles and Witteborts and a few photos. Hope to add more later.
