Bonjour Gilbert,
Thank you for your response.Unfortunately, I have no Belgian sources. My information comes from U.S. Census records listing the country of birth of John Pennelle who lived in New Orleans, Louisiana. The source of the name Admie comes from the 1880 U.S.Census where she is listed as Admie Lehde. All other references to her are under the name Delphine or under the initials A.D.Since this is only one notation and I can find no other, it could be misspelled or completely wrong. She was born in Louisiana.I feel sure that the family was French speaking due to the fact that my aunts said that the family was French. Then I found the Census records stating that John was from Belgium. ( John's wife, Lucie/Lucille was born in Switzerland and I do not know where they met or married.)Those Census records were from the time that he was alive and presumably knew where he and his parents were born. One small possible clue is that my aunt knew of an old, now misplaced, photograph of a perfume shop that had the word "Brussels" written on it.Could you name the list of towns where you found the Pennelle listings?I am hoping to be in France later this year and may be able to drive to Belgium to some of the Provinces to inquire about records. If not, I will go another time.Thank you for your help.
Vicki
