Diana -- There has never been a paper trail from Solomon Belew to Silas Belew. Silas and Solomon were just in the same area of Jefferson County, so it seemed likely that there was some kind of connection. The only confirmed paper trails from Solomon and his two wives are to Joseph, Hiram and William. That William was a genetic Belew/Ballew from the Leonard Ballew line of Henrico County, Virginia is confirmed by DNA. None of the women found in Jefferson County such as Nancy or Matilda have ever been confirmed as belonging to Solomon either. We do know that there were other Belews/Ballews besides Solomon in Jefferson County at the time Silas was born, but so far I cannot find anything in the records to connect Silas or the Stroups with any of them. Perhaps the Stroup records will be more revealing than the Belew records.
