Feb 1816, State vs Hosea Belue, had a child out of wedlock with Nancy Brown. The boy child was born 17 Dec 1815, bondsman were Jacob and Thomas and were charged 60 lbs.

Union District - An inquisition indented taken on the premises of Z. Belue in district aforesaid, on 25 Dec. 1824 before me Gordon Gregory, Coroner, upon view of the body of a man supposed to be Henry Coil then and there lying dead, upon the oaths of M. Hilburn, Benjamin Little, Jerr.(?) Miller, John Fincher, Zachariah Belue, Senr., Jobe Hammons, Robert Walker, Zachariah Belue, Junr., Benjamin Saunders, James Williams, Gardiner Jackson, Edward Anderson, good and lawful men of said district, who being charged and sworn do say that the supposed Henry Coil did kill and murder himself.

10 Apr 1825, Inquest on Maria a Negro woman, the Property of Thos. Belue. Filed 25 Sept. 1826. Union District - An inquisition indented taken at Mrs. Williams' in the District aforesaid on 10 April 1825 before G. Gregory, Coroner, upon view of the body of a Negro woman Slave named Maria, the property of Thomas Belew, then and there lying dead, upon the oaths of Thomas Kennedy, James Rowntree, Patrick Williams, James Williams, Robert Walker, David Nicholas, William Long, Stephen McCollum, James Burges, Thomas Scott, Thomas Howard, T. M. Bragg, good and lawful men of sd. District, who being charged and sworn do say that from a burn[?] given by whipping by the aforesaid Thomas Belew at his own house on the 6th inst. with switches and a blow with his fist which was given in heat and passion by the sd. Thomas Belew on the thighs, loins, belly and breast of said negro Maria but not with the intent to murder, and so the Jurors aforesaid say upon their oaths that the aforesaid Thomas Belew in manner and form afsd. Negro did kill and murder against the peace of this State. Signed by T. M. Bragg, foreman, Thomas Kennedy, James Rowntree, Patrick Williams, James M. Williams, Robert Walker, David Nicholas, William Long, Stephen McCollum, Joseph (sic) Burges, Thomas Scott and Thomas Howard. [The inquest and all signatures appear to be in the same handwriting and no seals are entered. This may be a copy of the original which may have been filed with the papers in a court case against Thomas Belew. Note that the above papers were filed 18 months after the inquest was held.]
