I hope some knowlegable person on this list can help me.

I was at Rocky Mount Presbyterian Church Cemetery, near Plain Dealing, Bossier Parsh (county), Louisiana last week and I saw a tombstone for J. C. BELCHER, b. 20 Sept 1842 in Abbeville, SC, d. 28 May 1904 in LA (I presume in Bossier Parish, LA). His tombstone has "He served in VA under Gen. JEB Stuart" on it. I can't find a J. C. Belcher in the "Booth's Records of LA Confederate Soldiers" book, so I don't think he served from LA.

Does anyone connect to this J. C. Belcher? He married Elizabeth Gladney in 1875 in Bossier Parish, LA. Does anyone know his parents or his first name?

Any suggestions or replies would be appreciated.
