Seeking information on the ancestral and descendant family of John Belcher b. 1760-1770 [1830 census], location of birth unknown, of early 1800's Columbia Co., GA. [tax, land lottery] Following is information that I have collected for this John Belcher. I appreciate any information on John Belcher or any of the associated named families.

Jan 13th 1801. r/Sept 8th 1802. ABRAHAM FRANKLIN sells to JOHN BELCHER, for $27, a 27 acre tract on waters of Greenbriar Creek, whereon said Franklin now lives.

JOHN BELCHER of Columbia Co, married., registered for the 1805 GA land lottery by March 1804 and had two unsuccessful draws in the 1805 land lottery.

By 1808 ARCHIBALD WILLINGHAM was in district #11 and purchased 5 acres from JOHN PITTMAN on the new road from Washington to Augusta and JOHN G. WILLINGHAM and NANCY GRIFFIN witnessed this sale. ARCHIBALD WILLINGHAM sold this land back to JOHN PITTMAN in 1811; JOHN GREENE WILLINGHAM AND JOHN PITTMAN, JR. witnessed the sale.

A VILLAIN DISCOVER'D
Some time back I gave my note to JOHN BELCHER of Columbia County, for Seventy Seven Dollars, payable in November next, which note JOHN BELCHER shortly after lost-the fact of which the said Belcher has sworn. The same note has been lately offered for sale by WM. LUCKY, who lives in the New Purchase-The said Lucky is about 30 years of age, and has a remarkable ugly nose, which is very large at the end, and turns very much up, which appears to have been produced from some disorder. I forewarn all persons from trading for said note

In 1820 Jasper Co. were JOHN BELCHER SR., COLLIN H. BELCHER (b. ca 1790 m. 7 Dec 1813 in Columbia Co., GA to Rebecca Gilpin), JOHN G. BELCHER, AND OBEDIAH BELCHER (bought and sold land in Jasper Co. 1810-1829). Also in Jasper Co. in 1820 was ARCHIBALD WILLINGHAM m. 12 Dec 1809 in Columbia Co., GA to ELEANOR BELCHER b. 1794 GA (my ancestors).

I did find a book reference to a record in Troup Co., GA stating that there was some legal action concerning lot #18 in Dist. 11, property OF JOHN BELCHER, SR., fi fa of ARCHIBALD WILLINGHAM; this lot #18 was also connected with COLLIN H., JOHN, AND WILLIAM BELCHER, SONS OF JOHN BELCHER, SR.

This is the last record that I have for JOHN BELCHER b. 1760-1770.
