Need info concerning a shooting in Old Town (near Cumberland Gap Tennessee) in Claiborne County Tenn on June 4, 1899. George W. Belcher, originally from Scioto County Ohio, was shot and killed, leaving wife Lizzie Belcher (my ggrandmother, maiden name Mary Elizabeth Wright) with 5 children. Lizzie took the children to Scioto Co Ohio. Why and how was George shot? are there any details available? He is buried in a country cemetery there in Tn. Lizzie's father is given as Luke Wright and she has half-siblings James Wright (spouse Naomi or Oma), Bertha (m to Barney Humfleet, Delia or Dealio (m to a Duncan in Middlesboro). Please post a reply if an info is known about this Wright family or about the shooting.
