SOPHIE BELCHER

Mrs. Sophie Belcher, 88, of 149 Jefferson Heights, Catskill, wife of the late William W. Belcher and Emil Schaefer, died Tuesday evening, Dec. 13, at Columbia-Greene Medical Center in Catskill, where she had been a patient since Dec. 8. Mrs. Belcher was born in Germany on Aug. 3, 1900, the daughter of the late Johan and Anna Roder Kahl. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart R.C. Church in Palenville, and had resided in Kiskatom and Catskill for the past 39 years. Mrs. Belcher is predeceased by her husbands, William W. Belcher on Oct. 30, 1968, and Emil Schaefer.

Funeral service will be held from the Traver & McCurry Funeral Home, 234 Jefferson Heights, Catskill on Friday at 9:15 a.m. and at 10:00 a.m. a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Palenville. Interment will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Catskill. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Thursday at 8:00 p.m.

Mrs. Belcher is survived by a nephew, Emil Bayerlein of Elmhurst; two grand nieces, Marie and Irma Bayerlein; a grand nephew, Emily Bayerlein; and a great grand nephew, Carl Bayerlein.

Relatives and friends may call at the Traver & McCurry Funeral Home of Catskill on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
