I would love to find other descendants of David and Nancy "Tilda" Belcher. Both were born 1852. Married 14 Sept 1875. Kanahwa Co WV. They had 3 children that I know of. Margaret Pricie (Caldwell) b.10 March 1877. M. Chury (Matheny, Migent) b. 14 Sept 1880. Would love to know what the M stands for. And Delaney Ann "Lena" (Ratliff) b. July 1882.
My gr grandmother is Chury. She had 2 children. Dama Marie (my grandmother)and Georgia Lee. Believe that Dama's father was Orris, or Arrist Brown. Georgia's father was George Matheny who was murdered in the street in Malden in 1926.
Dama and Georgia were in the orphanage either in Charleston WV or Wheeling. Not sure. Family legend says Wheeling. But found a living person who knew Chury and she says Charleston. She has since passed on.
Margaret married Orville Caldwell and had 6 children.(Maysel, Candace, Ceres, James, Driscoll, and Jewell "Judy".
Delaney married Alexander Ratliff and had about 10 kids. Cody, Lydia, Maggie, Sherman, William, Charley, Albert, Clifford, Matthew, and Robert. That's a lot of descendants.
Dama and Georgia were adopted by two separate families. Dama by Godfrey R. Lips and Augusta and brought to Louisville, KY. Georgia was adopted by Andrew Harris and Ella Springer from West Virginia, but taken to Los Angeles CA. She married Seymour Lipschultz and had Betty Jean Lipschultz (daughter) Betty Jean had a daughter named Candace Walli Cooper. father was Ivan Perry Cooper. They were divorced and Betty married Reece Virgin and had one child Gary Dean Virgin.
I would like to hear from anyone who knows anything about ANY of these families. I have really searched. I have a picture of Delaney and a couple of Chury now.
