MOGILEV, WEINTRAUB,BARTNOFSKY

My grandfather, Jacob Weintraub, and his wife, Bessie Bartnofsky Weintraub, came to New York from Mogilev in 1904. Their children were Harry, Gussie, Izzie, and Edith. My father, Harry, has Mogolov (which I assume is Mogilev) listed as place of origin on my mother's naturalization papers, but Motov on his U.S. Army discharge papers. I looked up Motov on the Shtetl Finder, but all that came up was a village in Siberia. Could Motov be in Mogilev, or was it most likely written down incorrectly by some offical?

If anyone has any ideas about this or a connection with the Weintraubs or Bartnofskys, I would be pleased to hear from you.
