Marie, Kreva has to be this one -- the name is pretty unique and the place is historical and well known. http://maps.google.com/maps?q=%D0%9A%D1%80%D1%8D%D0%B2%D0%B0,+%D0%93%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B4%D0%B7%D0%B5%D0%BD%D1%81%D0%BA%D0%B0%D1%8F+%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%B1%D0%BB%D0%B0%D1%81%D1%86%D1%8C,+%D0%91%D0%B5%D0%BB%D0%B0%D1%80%D1%83%D1%81%D1%8C&hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=54.27164,26.396027&spn=0.582199,1.234589&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=50.111473,79.013672&vpsrc=6&z=10 http://en.worldpoi.info/poi/140/ I am not an archivist, but I think you have quiet a bit of information to go on. The name is well spelled and can be accurately translated back into Russian (Владислав Игнатович)or Polish. You have close enough range of birth dates. It could also help a lot if you know whether your grandfather was Catholic or Orthodox and whether he was a nobleman. One problem you may encounter, is finding the archive where the actual records for Krevo are held, since it could be either Minsk or Grodno archives in Belarus or Lithuanian state archives http://www.archyvai.lt/archyvai/changeSite.do?siteId=1&pathId=59 . Still, if you contact Belarusian national archives they should be able to direct you. Alex Notify Administrator about this message?
