Kagan of Slavien in Belarus
Posted by: Lynn Kagan Date: March 12, 2000 at 09:07:37
  of 2624

My father was born in 1911 in a village known variously as Slavien, Slavene or Slovene. In 1922 the family emigrated to Canada. All I know of the village is that it was not considered far from Minsk, even by horse and buggy. The last any family member saw of the area was over 20 years ago and now there is no one alive to ask. I will be in Minsk briefly in mid May and would like to water my roots if i can find them. The family name of Kagan as we use it today is pretty much as it was. My grandparents were Lifsha (Leah or Lillian) and Mendel. Any connections? Any information about the village?
