Paula, Thanks for your post. My grandfather's last name is Pribish and grandmother Koscik. Both were from Hutova. Jewish? Could be. Grandfather's first name was Moses and his brothers were Samuel and Continstine. GF came to US in 1912 on the Uranium Steam Ship Line. It was owned by the Grand Trunk RR in Canada and did extensive recruiting in Hutova. I've found ship manifests with many names from the village. My father, his mother and brother were left in Russia and were supposed to join GF in Rockdale, Illinois, but WWI broke out. The village was sent to Siberia to avoid the battles in the area. After the Russian-Polish War in 1921, the villager became part of the new Polish Republic and returned. GM died in route leaving the two boys alone. They finally made it to the US in 1931. We still have relatives in the village, but I have no contact since 1954. My uncle went back for a visit in 1980 and came back with pictures and movies of the place. He said it looked the same. I will be glad to share more. If you are interested, I am writing books based on the village of Hutova and Rockdale. My web site- flyingbrickvideo.com has some more info. Again thanks for the reply.
