It depends from the year, because border changed a lot of times specially in XX after 1917. Similar situation with my father. He was born in village 15 km east from Grodno but it was a Bielostok wojewodstwo (province) these times. Later it became to be Grodno province. And I do not see any problem about notifying Polish language speaking person as Lithuanian. Specially if it was in XIX. As you may know Lithuania or Litwa was common name of Great Duche of Lithuania, including present Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine territory. Of course, it was segregated in end XVIII, but people could name themselves as Lithuanians even in end of XIX. Lithuania in past is not the same that Lithuania now! And please prepare for not being shocked if you will know later that she wasn`t also Polish origin in the end, but Belarussian, speaking Polish language. Same story like for almost everybody in this region, including my own family. Brgds Pawel Konstantynowicz Mogilev, Belarus Notify Administrator about this message?
