I think you should better post your messages on Belarus Forum. Because Grodno is in Belarus now. It was Russia in 1905, and it was in Poland for a while, and it was in Lithuania also for many centeries. But right now it is in Belarus (it was in USSR also). There are 2 official languages: Belarussian and Russian. Everyone speaks Russian.

Are you sure about Spelling 'Bobri' - may be it is 'Bobry'? Anyway, it does not ring a bell for me. May be also one of the small villages that does not exist anymore.
