Hi Melanie -
Thanks for your post.
I have been planning a trip to family history center in my area, but had not gotten around to it yet.I will look for the book.
I have recently found Rakszyce on an online map at mapquest.com.If you go there, select maps, then country: "belarus" and type in "Rakszyce" for town. That will give you a good idea of where I am digging.
However, I still have not located Smorkowa. If you could send me a copy of the map you have I would be extremely gratefull.I don't know if you have a scan of it or not.
http://www.krupinsky.comhttp://www.krupinsky.com is the site where I have posted what I know so far. There is a link to a FEEFS 1882 russian map which is interesting, but not very detailed regarding villages.I also have some others I have accumlated over time which I could post if you were interested in seeing them.Let me know.
Roughly, both villages are north of Minsk, and east of Vilejka.I believe both (or atleast Smorkowa) belonged to the nobleman's family Borkowski and it was a part of Juncewicze property in 1889.I haven't been able to find out anything about this though.
Thank you for your help!
