Hi Melanie -
Thanks for your post.

I have been planning a trip to family history center in my area, but had not gotten around to it yet. I will look for the book.

I have recently found Rakszyce on an online map at mapquest.com. If you go there, select maps, then country: "belarus" and type in "Rakszyce" for town. That will give you a good idea of where I am digging.

However, I still have not located Smorkowa. If you could send me a copy of the map you have I would be extremely gratefull. I don't know if you have a scan of it or not.

http://www.krupinsky.com is the site where I have posted what I know so far. There is a link to a FEEFS 1882 russian map which is interesting, but not very detailed regarding villages. I also have some others I have accumlated over time which I could post if you were interested in seeing them. Let me know.

Roughly, both villages are north of Minsk, and east of Vilejka. I believe both (or atleast Smorkowa) belonged to the nobleman's family Borkowski and it was a part of Juncewicze property in 1889. I haven't been able to find out anything about this though.

Thank you for your help!
Michael Krupinsky
