Thank you for your offer.I have just gotten involved in Iroquois County.I have found the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church record book, the Illinois State-wide marriage index, the LDS IGI and Ancestral records of Belands in Illinois (and elsewhere), census data and some Civil War records.Where I am right now is stuck on finding the marriage record of Philomene Beland, who married Nicholas Barland. There are too many Philomene Belands, and too many Nicholas Barland/Borland/Berland.If I could only find their marriage record, I could probably track her back to her birth and genealogy in Canada.I have collected a lot of information on Belands in Quebec, particularly Maskinonge, but I am not able to link Philomene to any of them firmly. There are a couple of strong possibilities.
If you could find her marriage record (LDS IGI file says she was married "abt 1866, Iroquois" but I know that is wrong. She had the first child I could find, in 1859.I suspect a marriage about 1858/1859.I believe she was born in Quebec in 1837 and immigrated in 1855 (census data).Nicholas was born in Quebec in the same year and immigrated in 1852 (census data). So I think they were married in the U. S., not Canada.Furthermore, I have done a fairly good search of Canadian marriage records, without finding anything pertinent. If you could help with this information, I would be very grateful.Thank you.John Gauthier
