The French Bidjerano/Bidjarano family

Mr Alain Bidjerano from France has told me that his grandfather Chapat Bidjerano was born in Palestine (Jaffa) at the beginning of the 20th century, after his family had migrated to Palestine from Turkey (although some say they were also from Bulgaria). They spoke Turish and Ladino. He and his brothers moved to France (first Bézier and then Marseille) after the First World War. Having arrived in France, his grandfather started spelling his name as Bidjerano and one of his brothers was called Bidjarano. His grandfather died in Aushwitz and so did one of his sons and his two daughters. Just two boys (Mr Alain Bidjerano's father and his uncle) survived the war.
