Bejano does exist (and is not Bejarano)

Here is more evidence for my analysis:

The surname Bejano does exist as a Hispanic surname as we can find if we search for it on the internet.

Therefore Fernao Goncalves may have chosen as a name "Bejano" (maybe this was on old variant of the contemporary Bejense, maybe it simply reflected the fact that he was not from Beja and made up a fairly logical word for someone related to Beja) instead of Bejarano. Spanish and Hispanic families bearing this name would in that case descend from him, but they would be completely unrelated to the Bejarano families.
