Mike, I do believe we can help you here. It is pretty certain that your family belongs to this main line of Beitels that go back to Heinrich.
I have a Lewis Josiah Beitel b 1851 m to Mary Arnold in
Newark NJ. He had 7 sons, one of which may have been your
GGGrandfather. They are: Walter Lewis b 1873, Frank Arnold
b 1977, William Edward b 1878, Clarence A. b 1882, Herbert b 1886, Eriwn E. b 1887 and Alfred R. b ? All these b in
PA. Some of these Beitels came to CA.
I don't know which Pitsburg Beitels you speak of, but
all of this Beitel line originated in Nazareth PA in the
1740's.
